Lighting Setup for Macro Photography
Posted by Mark Stevens • 4 hours ago
Need help with lighting for macro photography. I'm shooting small products and insects, but struggling with harsh shadows. Currently using a ring light but not happy with the results. What lighting setups do you recommend for macro work?

For macro work, I use two small LED panels with diffusers. Position them at 45-degree angles to your subject. This gives you nice, even lighting and helps reduce shadows. The Godox ML60 lights are perfect for this.

Try using a light tent for product photography. It creates beautiful, soft, wraparound light. For insects in the field, I use a flash with a DIY diffuser made from white plastic.
